What is an Essential  Oil?

Essential Oils are made by plants.  It is important to keep the oil as close in condition to that which is in the plant.

Plants produce two types of oils-

• One is a fatty nutritious oil that serves the purpose of providing food for the next generation of plant… we see this in seed oils, nut oils, etc.  To grow a new plant, the seed must germinate and provide sustenance for the seedling until it has grown leaves and roots sufficient to provide food for itself.  These oils are nutritious for us too and we use them in many ways.
• One is the essential oil- the aromatic oil- the volatile- essence of the plant.   This oil is the Essential Oil- the lifeblood of the plant.  EO’s carry nutrients in to the cell and toxins out of the cells, they help with transpiration (Plant breath) and they provide protection from infection.

All the things that plant oils do for the plant, they can do for us.  They can help with circulation, cleansing, delivering nutrients and oxygen, they even continue to work against fungi, bacteria, viruses and other microbes that can cause animals to have problems too.
